Hi all, my first post! 🙂 Just about to start studying for the Jan 13 MCAT and am confused on what books to use. I had ordered TPR books + practice tests before finding the SN2ed schedule, which I would love to use. I'm not willing to go buy TBR set since I have a full TPR one but am willing to get the EK Verbal 101 and 1001 series (minus Bio apparently). Are these two sets sufficient? And can I follow the schedule with TPR books instead of TBR? Just substitute ch by ch or is there a specific way to go about this?

Also, I keep reading something about TPR regular books vs hyperlearning?? In the set, I received TPR review book for each subject plus 3 HL books which are practice probs/passages only. Are there some HL REVIEW books I'm missing or are these HL books everyone is talking about just the practice books??

Thanks all 😉 Happy studying!

I'm not the SN2'd schedule expert, so I can't answer your question about if they are an ok replacement. I do believe however that in the SN2'd schedule the VR hyperlearning book he refers to is the verbal HL book you got in your set. The TPR bio book you got is similar to, but not the same as TPRH bio. Apparently there used to be TPRH books with content review and some practice passages, but I believe they don't sell those anymore and now they just have the hyperlearning workbooks. I hope this was somewhat helpful, but not sure on the TPR/TBR set equivalency in the SN2'd schedule

I am in a TPR course. The subjects books we receive are the same books at B and N. The HL is the sci wrnk, the vrl wrkbk and in class compendium.

I had the same questions last year when I was buying my books. The TPRH content books are the same as the ones they sell in stores (i.e you're not missing any content or practice books - you have the complete set).

As for the SN2ed schedule, you can definitely use TPR books instead of TBR for the content portion (he even writes it somewhere in the FAQ). I used his schedule with TPR and you don't really need to worry about whether the chapters are the same or not (content-wise) as long as you finish all chapters on the same day as the schedule (cause in the end you'll have covered everything 😛).

As to whether the material you have is sufficient or not, that's very hard to say. Depends on how you study. The obvious answer is that yes they're sufficient; I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who basically just took the TPR class and used those same books and ended up scoring high.

Although I didn't do all the passages in the TPRH Science workbook, I found them to be easier than the ones in TBR and the actual MCAT (FWIW, I found the ones in TBR to be harder than the actual MCAT/practice exams). The TPRH SW Bio passages are amazing though (main reason why I got the TPRH SW).

IMO, you should be fine with the TPRH content books/TPRH Science Workbook discretes&passages/EK1001s (TPRH Verbal workbook and EK101 for VR is enough). I still highly recommend getting the TBR books for Phys/Chem/Orgo because their passages are extremely helpful.
Stop worrying so much about the material, it's not about what you use to study, it's more about how you study the material.
