Hello,

I was hoping to see if I can find some guidance on this forum miraculously. I graduated from pharmacy school in 2015. I have been practicing as a community pharmacist for the last three years. I have two degrees a bachelor of science in biology (GPA:3.8) and then graduated from pharmacy school (GPA:3.3).
I am looking for personal growth opportunities either through further education or work related experience. I am a 29 year old male and feel that I am still fairly young. If any of the more experience pharmacists can go back in time and put themselves in my position what would you do differently or want to do?

Please comment thanks for the help!

More or less same story here (except shift graduation date forward 1 year, and reverse the undergrad and pharmacy school GPA's). Curious what others say...

The happiest pharmacists I know are not fulfilled through work or education.
Buy a modest house for the tax benefits and long term appreciation. Max out 401k, HSA, savings. Maintain healthy diet and exercise. And then find a hobby or two that you enjoy for fulfillment. Not racing Ferrari’s or hot air ballooning. Something reasonably priced.

I feel you man lol. Your GPA is fairly good for pharmacy. I feel so lost. I was thinking of taking time off to reevaluate. If I could go back in time I'd try to refocus my application and apply to medicine. My GPA is a little low now cumulative with pharmacy bringing me down which is ridicolous cause my classes were curved so the average is 89 for my one class. I got 90 and still got a B+..... I was considering getting an mba. I'm really interesred in Asian culture and was thinkijg of getting an mba in Tokyo to Singapore and try working for a pharmaceutical company.

Thanks for that advice lol what tech you have in mind?

Go back 10 years...come out with a CS degree...join an infosec company...get sponsored for security clearance...have said company be bought out by a major fortune 50 company...be paid tons and tons of money to work on government projects in the dc/va area. pretty easy.

Computer Science degree would be awesome for sure

If I could go back in time I would spend less time on education and work and more time on hobbies and family.

Yeah. Before I went into pharmacy school, I took a class in senior year of undergrad, it was on genomics and gene mapping, I thought it was so cool... I actually spoke to the professor afterwards, asking how one could enter that field (it was between pharmacy school and that). He said it would require additional math courses, and a grad degree at least... I didn't' care for math, so I decided to go with pharmacy. Woulda coulda shoulda.

Nice Nice, I'm sure you could still do that somewhat with pharmacy right, with pharmacogenomics etc.

It's not good to be a professional student. I suppose if you really feel unfulfilled with pharmacy, you could look into going to medical school (but really look at what it entails....) But with a BS and a Pharm D, I think it's time for you to work. Then again, with all the unemployed pharmacists, maybe you should go back to school and give another pharmacist your job.
