Hi,

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope all your holidays are well. I am a fourth yr med student currently applying in another specialty considering applying for pm&r as a pgy2-- just wanted to know why those of you who chose pmandr made the choice? As a pm&r doc do you have the same social issues that you have to in other specialties? Also, how is the compensation for pmandr-- do you have to deal with the same hassles as in primary care, etc? Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated. Happy holidays. Thanks.

If you don't enjoy working with patients from a biopsychosocial point of view, then you'll be very frustrated in PM&R. Disability, by its very nature, is complex and disability related health care involves interaction with medico-legal system, the court system, social services, etc.
