Is it possible to complete a family practice residency in two years? Accd to AOA, if you you complete an internship in a speciality track as oppossed to the traditional internship it will count towards residency. The speciality track internships lists family practice as option but when you review the section on frequently asked questions it does not mention FP as option. Please advise.

To the best of my knowledge, it is not possible to complete a family practice residency in two years. The family practice internship simply allows you more time in the area of family medicine during this year as opposed to the traditional internship where you would have to rotate through other departments. This type of internship simply gives you a "jump-start" on your residency. You will still be required to complete two more years of a residency. This type of internship should only be completed by those who are fully committed to family medicine.
