Hello!

I take organic lab, organic II lec, phys II w lab, EEB, and history at the moment.
I am a sophomore.
Basically, what I was thinking was that orgo lab consumes so much of my time therefore, I was wondering if I should drop that class and take an easy gen ed in place then, use the rest of the time to study for MCAT and take the test during summer to get it done and over with for my Junior year( will do research and all that then)....

What's your thought?

Thank you 🙂

If you're going to take the MCAT in the summer, you should take it at the END of summer (im assuming you aren't applying until 2013 because you are a sophomore). If you take the test in August or September, you can spend the entire summer studying for it. This way, you will not have to study for it at all during this semester.

I started studying in June and took the test in August. That worked out well for me. I'm glad I didn't try to cram in mcat studying while I was taking other classes.

Your schedule doesn't sound too intense. By "EEB" do you mean Ecology & evolutionary bio? (I don't think my school had that department.) If you aren't doing any research or intense EC's this semester, I think your current schedule is totally manageable.

Take a prep course over summer and study MCAT full time. Don't worry about it this semester.

@ Nuance: Yes, I meant the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Course. I am doing EC activities but, I should be able to manage it w/o thinking about MCAT.

Thank you to both of you for your advice!

I would echo what slice of bread said.

Also, I don't know what your orgo lab class is like, but the one I took was intense. It actually really helped me for the MCAT, because it really focused on some of the essential orgo principals, and our professor was psycho about drilling them into our head. Also, using things like an IR to ID a compound first hand can help you when the MCAT asks you experiment related questions.
