I fell ill recently. It really hurt my study plan for the DAT because for about 2 weeks I was not able to study. I'm getting back into it but feel that my June 18th test date will not result in my highest possible DAT score. My question is:

Do you guys think postponing my test date until July 15th will be detrimental to my application?

My GPA is already sub-competitive: 3.2 overall, 3.2 science. My strong points are my EC's, interview skills, past work experience in the military and upward trend: 3.72 for 3 years at university.

It is painful for me to think about but I've toyed with the idea of waiting a year and raising my GPA to 3.35 overall/3.45 science and applying June 1st next year. But I would only do this if I was going to just be p*ssing away money. I plan to apply to new schools and friendly OOS schools – around 15 total.

Thanks for your help.

Please don't push back to June 1, 2012... that's a lot of unnecessary waiting. if you get a good DAT score you may score a bunch of interviews.

A July DAT is probably OK.

No, take the DAT bu July/August at the latest. No reason to wait an additional cycle.

you will be fine

+1, just postpone til july and focus, focus, focus on your dat prep. My gpa was around yours and my app complete date was 2nd week of sept and it worked out for me. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm just going to go for it and let the chips fall where they may. I'm going to submit my application this cycle and plan to take the DAT in July.

One of my letter writers talked with me today and told me what a great letter they wrote and how they're looking forward to hearing how I do. I know it is I who has everything to lose but it really modivates me to not let them down.

I got to get that 22!
