Considering OB/Gyn?

Hi,
I am an MS3 who will be applying to OB/Gyn residency programs this year. Can we start a sticky thread to guide future applicants or interested students about what do to during med school if you are interested, helpful tips during the interview/application season and things to consider about the profession?

I'll be happy to post in a couple of days...right now, I, and I imagine the rest of the new interns, are in the middle of moving 🙂

Truly, there is no big mystery to what to do in med school....get good grades, get good board scores, and get plenty of exposure to ob/gyn. Same for interviews. Be freindly and honest. Read your own C.V. and be aware of the program you are interviewing with. Have a reason to go there, and be able to explain it.

Getting a job in any field is no mystery. Common sense will prevail....be strong on paper, and strong in person. Be somebody that they want to hire!

I think the best advice is to keep it simple....remember, the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor, you will get a job. So, relax, and enjoy med school. It is the last little bit of relatively free time that you will have for a long time.

True, generally there is no BIG mystery....However, on other specialty threads there is info. listed in one place that is specific to that specialty such as what to expect in residency, future career outlook, the interview trail, community vs. academic prgms, private practice vs. academic, etc.... I only think the moderator can make this a sticky. This summer I will try and put links on here to help guide interested med students to old threads, but others are welcome to do the same or add.
