Hey guys... so i applied last cycle (510 MCAT 3.61 GPA) I was initially an engineering major and some of the classes really hurt my GPA and when I realized it wasn't a good fit I switched to Physiology and was able to improve my GPA but not as high as I would like it... no II last year so far no II this cycle, 2 rejections, most of the schools I applied to have average stats around mine. good EC's and work experiences but no research experience besides coursework, just not something I'm that interested in pursuing. I'm also hoping to land an AmeriCorp position for this year so that'll increase my clinical exposure as well... I'm debating on retaking MCAT cause although it's decent, I feel like because my GPA is on the lower end of the spectrum, I need a stronger MCAT score to prove I'm ready for med school... any advice? Thanks!

live in CT, applied to UConn, Quinippiac, UVM, Albany (rejected), NY Medical, Drexel, Penn State, Rosalind Franklin, Loyola Stritch, and a few other schools around the same averages, no real reach schools and I submitted one DO later on in the cycle in September to NYIT

Those schools are all appropriate. Add a few more DO schools such as UNECOM, PCOM, LECOM and any others that appeal to you. You should receive at least 1 interview from your MD list.

A DIY post-bacc will probably help you more than an MCAT retake unless you’re able to pull something substantially higher - like, 520 high - out of your butt.

At any rate, I’m not totally sure it’s your stats keeping you from an II

3.61 and 510 are not your problem.

Figure out where you're going wrong other than your numbers. Check the FAQ in this forum for what you may not be considering.

Go DO route and add more schools.

UWorld MCAT really helped reinforce what I learned content-wise in a passage-based format!
