Hello, I am considering the possibility of transferring into psychiatry as a PGY2. I am enjoying my intern year thus far (or as much as is reasonable), however, I am not feeling like my current field is truly a good fit for me. I have an extensive background in mental health that I developed prior to medical school and at times feel as if my current internship is a departure from the overall arc of my professional narrative. That being said, I certainly had good reasons for choosing to apply to my current specialty and I realize that one's judgment may be somewhat skewed during intern year. I would appreciate any input or guidance you all might have on my situation. I would be particularly interested in learning from the experiences of others that have been in this situation.
