I got a loan for the 2006-2007 year. Should I consolidate this?

I just graduated from med school and consolidated all previous years' loans. I'm confused as to whether I should consolidate this last year or not.

From my understanding, the only current benefits of consolidating for loans 2006 and after are convenience and the possibility of getting a lender with better incentives. The interest rates are fixed, and you can prolong your repayment even without consolidation.

Here's what Northstar (THE) has to say.

Yeah, financially it doesn't really matter unless you can find a better repayment incentive plan.

Do you know when the loan was originated? If it was prior to 7/1/06, your rate is still variable so consolidating is probably a good idea. I'm consolidating my 2006-2007 Stafford for that reason.
