I was all set to consolidate w/THE (my original lender) who offers .75% back from the start of repayment (so it'd be 4%, rather than 4.75%) when I found studentpriorityloans which gives .25% back for paying automatically and 1% back after 36 ontime payments (so it'd eventually be 3.5%). I can't tell which one turns out to be better if I'm planning on paying back over 20-30 years. Also, I noticed on THE's website that they say this:

"The T.H.E. Repayment Bonus is currently being paid out as a monthly credit equal to an annualized interest rate discount and is paid to all borrowers in repayment and less than 60 days delinquent. The T.H.E. Repayment Bonus is awarded as a reduction in the interest cost. This amount is based on current financial market conditions and portfolio performance and is therefore subject to change."

about the bonus. Does that mean that they might decide not to give it to me by the time I'm eligible if the market is not favorable?

Anyway, studentpriorityloans sort of sounds like a better deal, but it's a huge amt of $ and I've never heard of them, whereas is know other people who use THE....

Any advice very much appreciated as I need to make a decision w/in the next 24 hrs or so! Thanks!!!

also re the studentpriority loans, if I miss a payment after those first 36, I still get the low interest rate

What's the link to student priority loans?

Anyway, Student Loan Xpress has the same deal:

.25% reduction when paying automatically
1% reduction when you consolidate $20,000 or more, and make on-time payments for 36 months
.6% reduction when you consolidate within six months after graduation

Any better deals out there?
