I took my OAT this tues. and couldn't believe it. During my RC section....it seemed like there was some construction/moving furniture on the floor right above me!!! It continued throughout the phys section as well. I told the proctor and she just said to put the headphones on (which only made the noise louder).

I was so distracted it took me twice as long to read the passages/answer the questions and didnt finish AT ALL. I ended up with a 270 on READING and 300 on PHYS. This is MUCH LOWER than what I was scoring on my practice exams (~350). All my other sections were fine though.

I am extremely upset by this. I studied too hard for this exam and my mark does not reflect it. My GPA is also not the greatest ~3.0 so I was really hoping this exam would make up for it. I am also scarred that if I take it over again, my marks will be lower.

My other marks are as follows:

GenChem 330
Orgo 360
Bio 300
Math 370

TS 330
AA 320

What shoud I do? any suggestions?

Eve😡 (who is very very sad right now)

I'd retake it to get the RC score up. I was told by a person on the admissions committee at my school that they look at the RC part of the OAT more than anything. It gives them an idea of how well you'll be able to handle the amount of material in school.

Hey! the same thing happened to me, kind of. During my exam, all of the computers froze and this messed me up on my concentration. I posted the scores i got somewhere on this forum if you can find it. I actually called the OAT program and talked about it. They allowed me to retake the test with no extra cost (AND allowed me to not have to wait 3 whole months). If you can get some verification from the testing site of the disruption, they can send it in to the OAT Program and it'll be dealt with then. But yes, definitely retake the test if you can. Goodluck!👍

Did they still send your first OAT scores to the schools even though they allowed you to retake it?
