Hi everyone

I just finished my 1st quarter of my 2nd year at uc irvine (quarter system) and i'm not doin well.

My science grades for the last 2 years are:
GenChem: B,C,C+
OChem: C
Bio: A-,C+,C
Math: C-

I dont even know if I want to continue with premed anymore, especially when I'm having trouble concentrating (ADD), i'm trying on different medications and although they help i have to try on diff ones because of side effects. So without the right med, i seem to have no motivation to study and doing poorly.

So should I stop taking premed courses from now on until I graduate then do a postbac? If it is so, what kind of postbac programs can I do later on? Will i be considered to have little science background or majority of my prereq completed already?

hey psyvo,

I would try to take care of ADD and find what medication / combination works best before pursuing postbacc or continuing with other prereq classes as premed.

Take your time and don't rush. I am much older than my classmates, and as you can see it is never late to pursue medicine as career. The best time to go to medical school is when you feel you are ready.

Disclaimer to daeojkim's post- seek all medical advice from a practicing physician (though this was not the poster's intent to dispense).

Seek your physician and ask for his advice if your condition is indeed the reason for your lack of performance
