Hello!

Had a quick question about how to approach a situation with a medical school of which I am currently on the waitlist.

I interviewed with the medical school in October and was put on the waitlist in November. The school required a letter of interest to be on the waitlist, which I submitted at that time. This medical school is my number one choice and I haven't been in contact with them since then (November) and was thinking about sending something now to reiterate my continued interest and that its my number 1 school. I know that would be pretty repetitive with my letter of intent so I was wondering what your opinion is on this.

Thanks for your help.

First of all, is the school open to updates? Secondly are you sure there is nothing new that you can update them about? No promotion? No excellent grades? Did you take any courses since November that perhaps increased your interest in a certain area of medicine or healthcare policy that the program is strong in or has an appropriate dual degree program (you mentioned MD/MBA in an earlier post).

Basically, if the school is open to updates and you have something to update them about, especially something that shows increased interest in their program or some improvement in your qualifications, it makes sense to update them and also demonstrate continued interest and a little love.

Conversely if the schools don't want updates or you have absolutely nothing to say, it's a waste of time. But November was 5 months ago...
