Converting to 4.0 scale

Hello!!
I'm a Canadian student and just wasn't sure how to put my mark into the 4.0 system used in the States. I have a 90% average...so is my GPA 90 * 4/100 = 3.6??? I'm just not sure how they figure it out....any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!
