I was signed up for the Tropical Medicine Summer Elective in San Jose, Costa Rica. It seems like an awesome program, but for personal reasons I can't go. The application deadline has passed, but they are very eager to fill this spot so getting accepted is not a problem.
The details are here: http://medschool.lsuhsc.edu/microbiology/courses_tropical_summer.asp
The program is in its 16th year, and can count as elective credit in many medical schools--it is run by both LSU medical school and The University of Costa Rica Faculty of Medicine. It is a combination of class time, clinical time, and traveling around Costa Rica. The dates are July 3 to July 29 (2005).
It is the perfect program for the summer between first and second years of med school. You can PM me if you are interested and have more questions, or just contact Jeanine Campbell directly (the info is on the link).
Thanks.
