Cornell Alternate Status?

Hi all,
I got a letter from Cornell saying that I am an alternate candidate. Does anyone know how long the list is and how many if any have gotten in off the list in the past?

Any info would be helpful--they refused to tell me anything when I called!

from what i've been told by students/friends who have applied in past years, don't get your hopes up. IF they accept anyone off the waitlist its usually only 1 or 2.
