Ok, I need to figure this out while I sitll have time to fix it.

How strict is Cornell on their English requirement? I tested out of 3 semesters of English with AP tests/SAT II tests, and I've taken writing-intensive courses, both science and liberal arts, but no additional English courses. Do I really need to try and fit in some random English course to be able to apply there?

I'm applying for fall of '06, but graduating in December of '05, so I'll need to somehow fit in another class if they really are prereq Nazis.

Thanks.

You should probably call them (not email -- adcoms don't seem to like responding via email) to be absolutely sure. Not sure I would trust the boundless but imperfect wisdom of SDN for something so important.

Thanks. Just thought I'd give it a shot in case somebody on here has had the same problem.

I got this email today in case anyone's interested:

"Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in our institution and for your inquiry. If
your institution will write you a letter stating that you have taken a
course in a different department that is comparable to an English course
(due to the amount of composition involved) then we will accept this course
and an AP course to meet your requirement. If not, you will need to enroll
in one college level English course.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions"

So there ya go. Now I just need to get UT to write me a letter stating that my American Studies class with a writing component qualifies for this.
