I have a very last-minute decision to make...there's a sale on flights to New York that ends at midnight tonight...so I have to decide whether I want to go to either Yale or Cornell for interviews, or to both.

I am thinking I will at least go to Cornell since it sounds more like what I'm looking for in a school...but then I was reading their admissions website and couldn't find anything about student hosts. It seems like at every other med school I've visited, you could stay with a student for the night.

Granted, a $100 bill for a hotel won't be the end of the world compared to med school tuition...but it would help out if I could stay with a student. Does anyone know if Cornell has a student hosting program? I would call them, but it's already past 5:00...

Thanks for any info...also if anyone has any last-minute opinions (for or against) on going to the Yale interview, let me know...I am so tired and indecisive right now. I am lucky to have two acceptances under my belt already, so that's the only reason I'm considering not going.

Well, plus I apparently don't do well with lots of traveling (I wasn't working last week and had the luxury of sleeping in...I needed 12 hours of sleep a day just to be functional, for the entire week after my Harvard interview!). So flying into New York, interviewing at Cornell, then taking the train up to Yale the next day, etc. sounds very hectic...but I know that's not a good reason to turn down an interview...😕 Help!!

Yes, Cornell has a student hosting program. The admissions staff are very helpful and you can just let them know you are interested in this and they will recruit from the student body for someone to host you. The normal contact person is Cathy Cabrera who can be emailed at [email protected]

Thanks so much, I emailed her just now...this makes my decision of going to the interview much easier now that I don't have to worry about finding a low-cost (ha!) hotel in NYC!

Ack, trying to schedule my flight before I fall asleep...and I have one more question...sorry! But there are two possible flights I could take...the earlier one leaves at 7 P.M. and the later one at 8:50 P.M. I have afternoon interviews, and it says you can expect to be done by 5 P.M....but that you should plan to stay for an hour after your interviews...which would make the 7 P.M. one a stretch.

Do you really stay for an hour after your last interview? I'd rather take the 7 P.M. flight if possible and get back earlier...but not if it means skipping out early from an interview or something!

Sorry for such a picky question...I'm just tired and can't think...

Thanks,

i think the hour is for providing some wiggle room in case your interviewers run late... plus traffic to the airports between 5 and 7 is pretty bad. worst case scenario, you're hangin' at the airport...bring a book 😉
