Hi guys, I'm super fortunate to have these opportunities and I'm trying to figure out what the best medical school experience would be, where I would get the most opportunities/doors opened, etc. Any insight/advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated🙂

Case Western
Pros: 8-12 classes, very flexible first 2 years, cool curriculum thats not too heavy on lectures, lots of opportunities, longitudinal clerkship option at the Cleveland clinic, all my family and friends are in Toronto and its a 5 hr drive away. Applied for a scholarship but not sure if I would get anything.

Cons: didn't get a chance to explore Cleveland but heard its not the greatest place to live; the other schools are ranked higher – not sure how much of a difference this will make?

Vanderbilt
Pros: Pre-clinical is 1 year, clerkship is P/F and in 2nd year; so much opportunity for career exploration in 3rd/4th year, super supportive faculty/environment, lots of emphasis on wellness – that's the vibe I got at the interview. Awesome curriculum overall.

Cons: Further and more expensive to go to Toronto so pretty far from family; first year is pretty intense since its condensed; less diverse?

Cornell:
Pros: New York City!! I loved living in Toronto and I think NYC would be a great experience; dorm-style housing in first year seems pretty cool; they have a huge emphasis on global health and lots of opportunities for international experiences which is something I'm really interested in. Very presitigious outside of medicine as well

Cons: Lots of med schools in NYC, potentially more competitive to access opportunities like research etc.; more traditional curriculum? Don't have much info about it but Vandy and CWRU seemed more innovative. Not sure if its P/F or if there are rankings? Would much prefer a laid back learning environment without an emphasis on grades

These schools are all very similar in terms of prestige, go where you feel you'd be happiest. Seems like Case would give you the proximity to your family and Vandy's one-year curriculum will give you the freedom you're looking for. Cornell gives you the NYC experience
