What is the most correct way of listing your degrees and qualifications after your name?

I've seen many dentists list both their dental degree as well as their masters degree in dentistry (eg. Dr. John Smith DDS, MSD)... But if more than one degree was earned in the the same faculty (eg 2 degrees from the school of dentistry) then you're only supposed to list the higher of the 2 degrees. The MSD is higher than the DDS.. (eg. Dr. John Smith MSD). (I've seen dentists do both before).

Also is it or is it not correct to use the prefix "Dr." or "Prof." before your name as well as listing your degrees?

This is the only link I could find on the matter:

I've also seen doctors listed like this before as well. Eg. Dr. John Smith FACS (the medical degree being assumed because it's a prerequisite for surgical training and Fellowship with a surgical college.

There is no right or wrong, do what floats your boat.

I personally feel that having Dr Joe Smith DDS is completely redundant. Obviously you are a doctor. If you are that worried about people calling you doctor then just sign stuff as Dr Joe Smith. I would put a ms in there, so Joe Smith, DDS, MS

In a professional situation, if I earned it, its going after my name.
