Luckily, I interviewed at 7 programs this fall and have been accepted at 5. The other 2 programs were the only ones that asked me what other schools I was/had interviews at. The 5 I have been accepted to never asked me this question during the interview. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Nope. I had two schools ask me where else I'd applied. One accepted me, one hasn't decided yet.

Same...i got rejected by the school asking me what other schools have you been to.

The correlation is negligible when compared to the thousands of applicants that apply and interview every year.

You're uncovering evidence of a little thing called yield protection. 😛

While dental schools choose which students to accept, great students will have multiple schools to choose from. If schools give out acceptances to students who will very likely pass them up for a better school, then their yield rate (the percent of students they accept who choose their school) goes down; this makes their school look bad. The best schools (ivies and state schools) don't have to worry about this and don't often ask about where else an applicant interviewed.

A university infamous for yield protection is Tufts (home of the eponymous "Tufts Syndrome"). They won't even bother to give pre-Dec interviews to candidates far superior to their matriculant average. I predict that many people will be receiving Tufts interviews today and within the next couple of weeks.

OP-I have a prediction: the schools that accepted you were better than the schools that did not. Could you please list them?

Same thing happend to me, the one I'm still "under review" was one of my top choices. I didn't want to lie but I didn't think it would matter. Who knows

I was accepted at the only school that asked, "Where else have you applied?" and "Where do you rank us?".

I applied to and interviewed at 3 schools. I was accepted by the two that did not ask the other schools that I had interviewed at and I was wait listed by the school that asked where I had applied and interviewed

Not true. I was accepted to a school where the dean of admissions asked me what other schools I applied to and interviewed at.
