Any risks in this procedure?

My ortho and perio doctors recommend it, without corticotomy my ortho treatment would take 2 years... but with this surgery, it can cut the length of time to half, maybe less.

Any thoughts or experiences on this? 👍

Slower is better in general with ortho. Move the teeth too fast and you'll greatly increase the chances of root resorption😱

Forgive my ignorance, but is a corticotomy done to expand the maxilla? Is this something that is a newer type of procedure in ortho? What is the corticotomy correcting? (If you don't mind my asking).
