I have over 100 CME for category 1 but found out i need 24 of those specific SA CME by December 31st. Any ideas? I have the luxury of being off the entire time at least.

I basically have been told I can do the 6 different MGH self assessment modules I think 50 q's each for $35 per module and each module gets you 4 CME that qualify for SA credits or get the Stahl Self assessment book then do several post tests via NEI website giving 16 cme for SA costing including book $120.

Just wondered if you guys that have done it might have some feedback.

Look at the American College of Psychiatrists (ACP) web site under PIPE test. I think it is 200 questions and will give you what you need. Probably about the same cost, but probably faster.

I bought a year's subscription to the APA FOCUS journal. The issue topics interested me. I also prefer reading to lecture. The year's worth of CME SA is 24. It cost me $600 (I'm not an APA member).

I just completed mine. If you’re an APA member you can access the Focus Journal CME SA for free. You can access it by logging into your APA account.

Anyone know if we need additional CME credits if we're moonlighting on an independent license during residency?

Right around this time last year, with a bunch of CME money left to burn by the end of 2018, I bought a FOCUS subscription, and was disappointed with the experience. I thought it would be like any other journal subscription and that I'd be buying access to the next 12 months' worth of journals; instead, what you get is the 4 issues for the calendar year in which you subscribe, so what I received were the 2018 issues. I never received instructions on how to access the content and had to email them to inquire about it. It turns out you can't even access the journal online through what you would think would be the main website (focus.psychiatryonline.org): for that you need a PsychiatryOnline subscription. All you get is the ability to download PDFs of the articles through the APA website education center. And they never mailed me paper copies of the issues, despite assurance in a follow-up email that they would do so. Was your experience different?

Typically most states will consider an active resident to be the equivalent of like 40-50 CME automatically, and further CME for licensure isn't needed. Double check with your state, but in general the CME clock doesn't start until after you are done with residency.

You will need to get whatever CME is required by your state licensing board, but you do not have to keep up with the ABPN's CME requirements since you are not yet a diplomate.

It was a confusing experience. I bought the year whose articles matched those I was interested in.

The way I have it now, I can only get CME for the year I purchased through my.psychiatry?? site but, I'm able to log-in to psychiatryonline and access the whole archive of Focus back issues.
