As if there wasn't enough drama already with me leaving CVS. I put Memorial Day Weekend on the calendar 2-3 months ago that I couldn't work. I got a call from my supervisor at CVS earlier today that I have to find my own coverage. Umm no. I put this on the calendar 2-3 months ago, that's plenty of time for the pharmacist to find coverage.
From what I understood about scheduling and whatnot, if you're giving 2-3 weeks+ notice that you won't be able to work on a day, then it's not your job to find coverage.
So I'm gonna be nice and try to find coverage, but if I don't, then I'm just gonna tell them that I can't find coverage and whoever is working this weekend is going to have to work alone. I'm leaving CVS anyway, so should it even matter to me about finding coverage for this? They are probably gonna put me in as not-rehireable either way right?
Wow sounds like you're having fun there. Either the people you work with are douches, you're a douche, or a combination of both. Just saying lol.
Another horror story about CVS. Is that why every time I go into my local CVS everyone looks depressed or grumpy? Man, the pharmacist that works at the Bashas in my town has a great life. He gets paid to surf the internet and read or do crossword puzzles all day. There were like 10 little prescriptions hanging up when I went there.
Am I a bad person if I was holding back laughter when she started crying?![]()

Every time I call either a CVS or Walgreens to speak to their Pharmacy Managers to inquire about any open positions, they always get bitchy with me.... 🙁
I may have to look at Basha's or Costco because CVS and Walgreens obviously don't want the help.

Costco gets plenty of people calling on the phone also, except 80% of the time its people asking for prices since Costco's prices are pretty low.
They get bitchy because the last thing a busy pharmacy manager needs is one more person calling on the telephone distracting them. Anyone who knows anything knows the hiring is done through corporate. Go to the little employment kiosk and submit an application.
All the Costco's I have every called refuse to give prices over the phone. I use Costco's website to look up prices. I am thinking about not matching Costco's prices any more. If people want the cheap price then they can go to the one or two Costco's in the area. Of course they will have to park in the giant always full parking lot and walk all the way to the back of the store. Oh and don't forget they are closed all day Sunday and close at 7 every night. I do not think of Costco as one of our competitors.
But you wish that Wags was run the way Costco was run don't ya?
So more CVS drama. Yesterday, on my way to take a final, I got into a car accident. After solving that issue and getting my cousin to take me to Manhattan and take my final. My cousin's car took a leak in the coolant system and we were stuck in Manhattan for 3 hours. (I was scheduled to work at 2PM and couldn't make it.)
I called up the store told them I'd probably won't be able to make it in. I get a call back from the Rx Manager who tells me it's my responsibility to make it there by 2PM even if I'm waiting for a tow truck or find coverage. This pissed me off so I decided I'm not answering any more phone calls from CVS or my Rx Manager over there AND they are going to have a nasty surprise this Thursday and Saturday when I'm scheduled to work. I'm not going to show up, and the floater working that day is going to be ****ing screwed.
I talked to my Costco Rx Manager about this he told me to just dump them and come work for him. He said it's not going to matter if I lose my CVS Rx Manager as a reference, or if I'm put in the system at CVS as fired. (I can always use the Rx Manager I had prior to this one.)
Does anyone else notice techs are more likely to call in sick when there are floaters. It never fails, I pick up an extra shift and I get there and find out a tech called in. Your probably needed more when there's a floater, not less. People are so inconsiderate.

You should keep your options open and not totally ruin yourself with CVS. Think of it this way, when you graduate how will the job market be like? There is only 5 costcos in NYC compared to hundreds of CVS..its more likely to be hired by CVS than costco as a pharmacist.
If you're planning to move/do something else other than retail disregard this post. 👍

Can't speak on behalf of the CVS employees, but Sparda29 is a douche. If reading some of his posts doesn't show it, then meet him in real life![]()

He posts some funny stuff and is most likely a sharp guy...but I do not think anyone on here is going to argue that is not a douche.😉

negative. sparda is clearly in the running for most entertaining poster
After the way CVS was a douche to me over the last few months, I think a little payback is warranted.
That's what I love about you, forever 14 years old. Grow a set and act like a man for once in your life.... Do you know how I know God has a sense of humor? Some day your gonna get screwed by a pharmacy student who acts just like you.....
I'll be sitting by the lake laughing myself silly when you post about it on SDN.
How often do you flake? Because if it was a tech that never calls in then I doubt any manager would act that way. But if it is a tech that flakes all the time, then it's hard to be compassionate even if it is a legitimate flakable reason. If your tech called you 3 hours before his/her shift and said that he was in a car accident or his/her car decided to take a dump on the highway and was waiting for a tow truck to take him to the repair shop, would you still expect your tech to come to work that day? The way my supervisor was talking to me on the phone that day, was basically that she didn't care and that I should find an alternate transport to get me to work. (Basically she wanted me to leave the car in Manhattan and take a cab to Long Island.)
And if your tech told you 3 months before hand that they don't work on Memorial Day Weekend or Independence Day Weekend, you would probably be smart enough to ask your DM to send an e-mail or w/e to find a tech somewhere who was willing to work right? Instead of waiting till the last second, finding out no one is going to cover the shift, and then telling your tech after they booked all their hotels and flights that they have to find their own coverage 1 week before the shift.
That was the last straw, and that's why I'm being an ******* to them now.
