Would drinking cheap beer on camera hurt me? Not blacked out, just drinking different cheap beers on the internet. Makes no sense unless you're in it, trust me.

Either 1. Mentioning it or
2. If my name ever gets out and people finding me (I got haters...).

Or is it best to stop this hobby before applying to medical school.

Are you doing reviews? I don't feel like something like that would hurt you. Most other things, I'd say you should probably stop.

yes. looking like partier or alcoholic will not help. Now if you're some beer connoisseur or something that may be a different story and could make it look like just another life experience. You will have to explain more as to what this entails. why did you specifically mention that the beers are cheap as opposed to expenisve and what did you mean by on camera (on tv for commercial or something or people taking pictures of you partying it up and its on facebook?).

May or may not hurt, but unlikely to help anything. Why not keep your social media clean until once you are in medical school?

Then you can post a picture of you with as much beer as you want, maybe a reefer too.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand how drinking alcohol on camera qualifies as a hobby? Like I don't even think I've even come across any youtubers who do this and you can pretty much find anything in that dump these days.

Oh, I trust you don't worry.

Well, a classic rule I was taught is "if the Bishop of a church (or my mom, both works) can see this and be cool, then go ahead". I'm sorry, when I saw the title, I legit thought you meant something more serious like porn or walking around with tiki torches at night.

Agree 100% here.

I wouldn't explicitly mention it anywhere or bring it up when asked about your hobbies, and it is possible though highly unlikely this would come back to haunt you. Probably not worth the risk, all things considered, but not so stupid of a risk that I would say stop doing it immediately. Are you like reviewing this beers online (probably fine) or just drinking them for the entertainment of others (probably less fine).

It doesn't make any sense to be involved in anything that would present you in a bad light, and I can't foresee any circumstances whereby someone viewing such activity would form a favorable impression of you, regardless of your other outstanding qualities and/or credentials.

Are you a popular YouTuber with a popular channel and millions of subscribers? That's the only way I could see this as maybe a plus, with the mini-celebrity status.
If not, you should probably stay away from it, as it could paint a picture with undertones of alcoholism.

You also have to consider that med schools will be thinking "will we want our school's name attached to this person and any of their potential actions?" before accepting someone.

it may not do anything or it may hurt your chances. definitely could not help. i would stop

You hope to be interacting with people seeking medical care from you (aka patients) in just a few short years. Would you want your patients to see this?
Remember, anything on the internet is forever.
Exactly why I deactivated my social media accounts before entering college. I don't want a few gems from my high school past to screw me over. I also don't find Twitter or Instagram to be all so appealing. It's stupid and I don't see the point.

Beer? Why do you drink that vile thing and pretend to like it? And yes, it will hurt you.

Whether you're applying to med school, or just trying for a real job after college, its sadly time to stop making silly videos with your friends when you hit 22.

Try your best to scrub your name from the videos, or take them down if you can. If its ever dredged up, which would be rare barring a determined blackmailer, you can say "It was a youthful indiscretion. But I am now a successful medical student and upstanding member of the community. Just look at all these stretchers I wiped down! And my PI said he never saw such clean Erlenmyers in his life..." I'm sure the world will forgive you.
