could someone go over the role of the bowman's capsule and the loop of henle?

im not sure what each of these do. I think the loop has to do with regulating filtrate osmolarity (salt and water) and the bowman's capsule has to do with blood filtration?

I've never heard of unique function of bowman's capsule. All I know is that it's where the glomerular filtrate passes before going to proximal convoluted tubule.
For MCAT, I think it's important to note the following about the loop of henle:
1. The purpose of the loop of henle is to concentrate the urine by making an osmotic gradient in the medulla.
2. It does that by using countercurrent system. (do some search on this. Videos are helpful)
3. The longer the loop, the more concentrated urine.

Okay awesome thanks. That makes sense about the bowman's capsule. Every time I've seen it mentioned in a textbook it was hard to figure out what it does. That explains everything.

You prob already have this down by now ... but my absolute fav video of this was through Khan and through mcgraw hill videos.. I am such a visual learner and by looking at these two videos, I have learned what salt goes in and out, when water is absorbed or released, what hormones regulate the uptake of salts or water, how it effects the blood pressure, where the filtrates come from and why and i learned the correct path flow from the beginning to the end Mouth to the rectum and everything else in between
