I'll be applying this coming May and I'll have all of the pre-reqs done except the orgo lab. I'll definetly have the lab done before I matriculate but not before my app begins to get reviewed. I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and tack on the extra two credits for the spring, but that would put me at 19 and I didn't want to do that. Do you think some schools would pass me up, I've heard some schools are becoming very stingy and not giving interviews unless you have all pre-reqs done when you apply.

Thanks

If you are extremely concerned, then try contacting the schools you are interested in and see what they have to say. I'm finishing up physics II right now, and it really hasn't been mentioned, except by Buffalo. Dr. Brown made it clear that I would get a "conditional" acceptance if they wanted me before I completed the course. The other schools I contacted when I looked into this before applying either didn't get back to me or they just said to make sure I complete it before matriculation.

You may want to consider taking the lab if you want to show that you can handle more credits at once. Have you taken 19 credits ever? How did you fare? Are you going to be studying for the DAT in the Spring as well? What else do you have on your plate? Etc... If after answering these questions you feel like you have time to squeeze it in, then go for it and get it out of the way.

all of the schools I have applied to haven't had any problems with me not finishing my pre-reqs yet. I still haven't taken any biology lab yet and won't until next quarter. For nearly all schools, the only requirement is to have them done by June of matriculation ('09 for you).

Also, a lot of school websites will tell you when to have them done and the admissions staff are very willing to talk with you and work with you to make sure you meet them all on time

I'm going to be a TA for systems phys next semester with 17 credits, so I'm going to not take the lab. Thanks for the advice guys, helped me out. 🙂
