  1. Pre-Optometry
1. Use of Calculators:
- No calculators for gen chem, correct?
- Calculators allowed in QR section? I heard that it's computer calculator so I assume it only has +/-/x/division sign? No cosine/ sine/ square root/ logs?
- Calculators allowed in Physics? No?

2. Scratch paper:
Do they give you couple of scratch paper to write things down and solve out problems?

1) No calculators for gen chem. If there are numbers in the problem, they usually have it so that they are in the equation like:
(300)(.08206)/(35)(20)
Calculators are on the QR section. It is the basic windows calculator. The only special thing is square root. Many people advise that you avoid the calculator as it takes too much time because you have to manually click each number.
No calculators on physics.

2) They give you dry erase boards.

You cannot bring your own calculator to any part of the OAT, but you are given a calculator for only the QR section.

The calculator for the QR is used by clicking on the buttons with the mouse (time consuming, so mental math when possible is highly advised).
It allows: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root
It doesn't allow: Trigonometric functions such as sin, cos, tan, or log. I consider memorizing specific values for the trig functions (like 0, 30, 45, 60, 90 degrees, etc. all the way around the unit circle.) There is also no exponent button.

Ability to quickly do math w/o a calculator is highly advantageous. I had to calculation(s) on every part of the test, including BIO and RC.

Some Testing sites give you a dry erase board, and others will give you a small set of blank pages and several pencils. My site did the latter.
