Is it possible to do couples match within the SF match? If both my partner and I apply for ophtho as a couple.. are we hoping for too much to match in the same place?
No, it is not possible to do couples match in early match programs like ophtho.
Sorry. You just have to do alot of coordinating when you interview at programs and let them know.. and basically try to rank a program that will guarantee you a spot at their place.
Are you sure? I know for a fact you can couples match for Ophtho fellowships, and I thought you could for Ophtho residency as well. My understanding was you could not couples match for Ophtho and a non-SF match specialty, or between the other SF match specialties, but you could for the same specialty. I would call SF match and check.
Maybe that's true, check with SF match. On the residency application, there wasn't anywhere you could select for couples match on the application or on the rank list. I know you can't do couples match with SF match and general eras or different sfmatch specialties. Not entirely sure about if same specialty-- but i didn't notice anything on the apps or rank list that would allow you to indicate couples matching.
