For this upcoming semester I'm registered for 16 credits. I will be taking

History
Bio 101
Gchem I
College writing II
Religion

I can't get into Cell Bio or any upper level bio course because the seats are filled. I've met with the cell bio professor and he still wouldn't let me in. I decided to take Bio 101 to boost my BCPM. Do you guys think it would be pointless to take Bio 101? I've already been through Bio 111. Should I just sign up for an elective that interests me and I can easily get an A and take out Bio 101? I'm transferring once this year is finished, so I have to see if my credits to transfer, and so far all of these courses do.

I'm surprised your university even lets you take Bio101 if you've already taken a higher level Gen Bio class.

Sure, an easy A I suppose but in my opinion such a waste of time.

Do you think I should take another course instead? Should I just take chem this semester and remove the bio?

It depends on what Bio 101 and Bio 111 are... Are those just two of the introductory level bio classes (like cell/mol bio and physiology and ecology?) or are they across tiers of biology? If they are in the same tier than I don't see a problem as thats fairly normal (taking 1 intro bio 1 semester and then the other intro bio the second semester). But if you are taking a biology course that already was partially covered in your previous biology class, I would find it a waste of time.

It's labeled as "Human Biology" however it's Bio 101, which I think is a condensed regurgigation of what I already learned in Bio 111. Do you think I should take some other elective and focus on gchem I this semester?

Why are you considering taking BIO 101 in the first place? You don't need to take a biology class every semester.

So drop Bio 101 and take a different elective and focus on Gchem? I thought it would boost my bcpm. I feel like it would look bad if I took a bunch of easy courses and then one difficult course

Aren't you a freshman?

Why aren't you taking Intro Bio II and Gen Chem II?

Take a gen ed or another premed prereq as your semester looks pretty light. Drop bio101

My school doesn't have a "Bio II" It's usually ecology, then it's Cell Bio. That's why I'm transferring. I decided to only to take Bio I first semester to see how I fair with these courses, and I did fairly well and feel confident in taking GCHEM now. The school I'm transferring to, I'll have to take cell evolution and cell bio my first year so that works out. I tried to take cell bio at the current school I'm at and the professor didn't let me in his course. I emailed him, spoke with him, and he still didn't let me. I'm only taking Bio 101 right now due to the fact I can ace it, and balance out my BCPM my first year if I don't do well as expected in Chem I. Now, my alternative approach to this would be to drop bio 101 and add an elective that requires little study time and focus my energy into Chem

I don't think it'll be an issue. I took Chem and Bio this semester finished with A's in both; definitely doable. Take the bio 101 + Gchem I you should be fine
