Trying to complete my AADSAS application this weekend 🙂 Pls help me with the following questions--
1. DO we need to code courses according to the dept listed in the transcript or our understanding of the 'best fit' in terms of content? For eg. I took a Economics writing intensive course that is listed in the Transcript as Econ 18: Sustainable Development. My registrar tells me that my school considers this as cross listed with English although not listed in the transcript as such. So, should I code this as Econ (4506) or English (2401). My bias is towards coding the latter as the course was really general studies english rather than econ.
2. What about independent study courses? One of them is listed as Government 401: Advanced Independent Study. I researched and wrote a paper on Health Care Administration -- should I list it as a 1812 (health Care Administration) or 4401 (public affairs/administration under psychology) or 4511 (government)?
Also for those who have completed the application successfully: what happens if the transcript does not match my coding (not in grades but in the coding per se) -- will it screw up my application leading to a long dealy?
Finally, can we start inputing some sections of the application without completing the personal statement?
THANK YOU! Best of luck to all.

I'd code according to what to the dept is on my transcript. Econ WI -> Econ (4506); Health Care -> Govt (4511). I really don't think it matters too much though.

As I remember you can fill in certain parts of the application w/o finishing others like the essay.

When coding the courses, you want to match them with the course codes on your transcript -- NOT to what the content of the course was. Econ (regardless of it being an advanced writing class) should be listed as an Econ class. Likewise, the independent study course should be listed as a Government course. The 6 digit code you enter into the AADSAS application should also equate to your transcript codes (such as English 210 = ENG210).

This ensures that your GPAs are calculated correctly, since AADSAS bases the GPA on the course codes you enter. Your application and transcript must match in course coding or adcoms are going to wonder what the heck is going on. Your transcript simply can't say ECON and your application say Advanced Writing. Besides, putting it as an English class rather than an Econ class doesn't make you look any better as an applicant -- doing the reverse makes you look strange. Just play it straight up and adcoms will be smart enough to either decipher the information themselves or ask you if they have any questions.
