Hi all,

I have a problem and need some advice.

I did not realize how important it was to take heavy course-load.
I have been taking 2 science courses at a semester for the last year and don't have a full-time job.
And yes, I am a non-traditional student.
Even though I wish to take more, classes overlap with each other (and I take classes at different community colleges, so travelling time is something).

If I continue like this, will it be a huge issue?
And what is considered "a heavy course-load"? 16 units? 18 units?

Thank you!

How much it's weighted will vary by school (just like everything else), but I really don't think it's of huge importance. Maybe step it up if you can, but I wouldn't hugely worry about the rigor aspect. Granted I did have a pretty strong GPA, but of my 110 undergraduate credit hours 29 were from AP credit and 17 were from a community college; I had less than 70 hours of undergraduate coursework at my university. I had one semester with sixteen hours, the rest were all under fifteen, and my last two semesters I ended up dropping a bunch of classes so they ended up being 11 hours and 10 hours of course credit completed respectively lol. I only worked during one of those semesters and a student job so only like 10 hours a week. And I got in first application.

15 hours is the norm so it might not be bad to have one 16-18 credit semester if you can swing it. I think all they really want is to see it suggested by your performance that you'll be able to handle the workload of multiple classes stacked together, particularly upper level classes, and particularly science classes, because that's basically what vet school is.
