Hi everybody! I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good course to take to prepare for Step 2. Does Kaplan have a course and if so, can anyone with experience tell me if they thought it was good? How about premierreview.com? What other courses are there? Are they worth it? You guys are amazing, I appreciate all the advice as usual!

bblue,

If you look over the lengthy thread on this page talking about USMLE World results and Step II scores, I don't think that many folks have done review courses. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't be helpful, but in general, there are much more cost-effective ways to prepare for IICK.

I did very well, and used USMLE World, Crush, and quick reviews of some Blueprints and Case Files books that I happened to have sitting around the house. I studied a few hours a day for 4 weeks.

I might consider a review course only if you haven't done very well in medical school (on shelf exams, etc) so far, and feel that you need an organized way to learn material better.

Hope that helps.

Hey there, it does help...so far, 1st and 2nd years I kicked butt in medschool and made national honors. But 3rd year so far has been a disorganized learning experience and I'm doing pretty average on shelves and USMLEWorld questions so far. There is so much contradictory information as far as treatments and 'next steps in management', it would be nice if there were a reliable course that one could rely on to get the facts. So, although I appreciate the advice, I'm still interested in going with a course, if anyone has heard of anything!
