Courses Pass/Fail?

Quick question...I took a chem class that I didn't need because I wanted a minor and like chemistry. We just got our first exam back and the grades were pretty dismal. 😡

Anyway, I was wondering if it would look bad if I switch the class to pass/fail? Also, what would happen if I stayed in it and got say, a D?

This is a tuffy.

At UF I would not be able to take anything like chemistry with an S/U option (Pass/Fail equivalent) So, first you need to be sure that it is even possible to take such a course S/U.

If you can take it S/U and you don't think you can pull ahead with a decent grade DO IT. Minors, for the most part, are useless any way. Why do I say this?
I know each school is different, but UF if you are a microbio major you (for the most part) get a minor in chemistry by default. Most science intensive majors are one or two classes away from a few minors.

The only case where I would consider a minor relevant would be if you minored in something outside of your major.

So the long and short....
Take the S/U if you can and if you happen to get questioned about it in an interview, say "I really enjoy chemistry and I thought it would be nice to take a chem course without the pressure of making an A, I wanted to just kick back and enjoy it."

First of all, you dont want a D. Just stick to it and try your best. With your DAT scores, I doubt you lack the potential to do well.

Between a D and P/F, I would definitely go for P/F.

It's still early in the semester though, don't give up just yet.
