I am a little unclear what would (or should) be billed under the new CPT code 96146?

What tests do we use clinically that are "automated result only." Seems weird. Is this maybe for a MMPI administered on a computer or something? Maybe this a way of getting around historically not being allowed to count the administration time for the larger self report/personality assessments like the MMPI, PAI, etc.? Can you bill the evaluation service codes (96130, 96131) with 96146 too? I work for a managed care company for my day job, and even I can't keep up with some of this stuff....

I don't do general psych evals, but I believe that you can, as this code was supposed to be a replacement for two codes, one of which was 96103, which allowed MMPI administration via computer. You can only bill this once, no matter how many computerized things you give. And, last I checked, the RVUs and compensation were negligible.
