Hey guys,

My DAT is coming up (August 16) and I finished all 10 of the CDP tests I have. the highest I've gotten has been a 19 and the lowest is a 17. I have consistently scored within this range, but for Kaplan tests I've only scored a 19 on the PAT as well. I don't know what to think about these scores. From everything I've read, Kaplan PAT is supposed to be easier compared to the real PAT. I've been looking over all my PAT sections to try to learn from my mistakes, but clearly it hasn't helped my scores. I don't know what to do to increase my PAT! Advice?

Also, should I postpone? I really want to do well on the PAT. Nothing crazy, just around a 19 or 20. I'm not sure if my scores are indicating that.

It's almost never mentioned on SDN but Barrons DAT has an amazing PAT section (and horrible everything else). There is tons of strategy and a fair amount of practice problems. I've pretty much exhausted any available PAT problems and I will say this, nothing even comes close to matching the difficulty of Barron's PAT (esp keyholes and TFE). Which is good as long as you don't let it discourage you and understand the actual DAT can't be that crazy. Anyway you can probably score the book for $5-10 online and $15 instore if you'd like to check it out.

find the sections that you are weak in and keep getting better by working on your mistakes. I thought looking at some of the predds.net strategies were pretty interesting. check out http://free-perceptual-ability-test-practice.blogspot.com/ for some more practice

Thanks for the response. Does anyone else have any thoughts on my PAT scores? This is by far my weakest section and just want to score reasonably well on this section.

one other strategy can try, is to look at the answer choices first. When you look at the answer choices try to find things that are different and eliminate the possibilities. I used to look at the question first and then look at the answers. Not I look at the answers first, and try to find differences between answer choices given, I can complete the perceptual ability section of the DAT much faster and with a higher score. This works really well on the keyhole section, top front end view, and pattern folding.

Hey. Don't worry, I was scoring very low on Kaplan PAT and thought it was harder than the actual test. I mean the subject tests were not bad but practice exams in my opinion were hard. You should do Topscore. Although people say it is easier, I got a 21 on that and 21 on the actual. Best of luck!
