Hey guys, I just finished my first crack reading test#1 and got a 18. Anyone know how the questions and passages on Crack compare to the DAT. I feel like most of the questions are inference/tone questions, and the passages are not as dense as topscore's RC. I feel like there is no way you can really search and destroy on Crack'c RC. Any opinions/experiences...??

I did the 1st passage and got an 18 too. I see no way to search and destroy. I don't know how representative the passages are because they really aren't that technical and the only one to do with science was the GMO's.

with the lack of replies i thought i would provide some input. i used crack dat reading and here are my pros and cons.

Pros
-helps you with tone and inference questions
-computer format is very similar to the real dat

Cons
-readings are way too short compared to the real dat
-way too many inference questions. on the real dat there are a lot of questions that you can find straight from the reading (ones you can use search and destroy)
-overall not that similar to the real dat

I dont really know any really good resources but i read science articles in the New York Times. whenever i read an article i tried reading it as fast as i could while still comprehending the material. I also made mental notes on where key words are.

hope this helps.

I totally agree with Mr Hands, but I wanted to add one comment about the passages themselves: the passages from Crack are not scientific enough. A lot of their passages are historical and easy to read, whereas on the real DAT the passages may contain lots of scientific jargon. The topscore passages were more similar to my actual DAT passages - I'd recommend topscore. However, I'm still glad I used Crack DAT Reading, it was better than nothing even if it wasn't that great
