i am new to SDN. just got my step 1 score. it was 189/77.
was shocked to see the result as i was expecting it to be way better.
i am an IMG and in the final year of my medical school.
the result has left me feeling hopeless and depressed. what are my chances of getting a residency with such a score??
should i even bother giving the step 2 CK and CS?
please help..

What are your goals with residency? Is it just "anything in the US" or is it something specific? Where are you from? How good is your english?

I am an indian studying in an indian medical school. I was always interested in pediatrics the most but had IM and FM as my other options. Im good and quite fluent in english. As of now I think I will be ok with anything I can get. How good is my scope??

Well, for some reason I can't seem to find an earlier NRMP match list, but from the numbers in the 2007 Match, you have a 1/3 shot at matching into Peds...all other things being equal..

Here are the numbers:

For someone who scored between 181-190 on Step I

Peds - 61 matched, 121 did not match (34%)
Fam Med - 178 matched, 309 did not match (37%)
IM - 124 matched, 437 did not match (22%)

Can't worry about your Step I score now. No matter what you do, you can't change it. Focus on the rest of your application and do your best. Obviously there have been people in your situation that have matched so just focus on the positives and move forward.

Good luck dude..👍

These stats you mention, are they all first time round or is it non-specific?

Is that for IMGs or AMGs + IMGs? Because that one third could simply be AMGs...
