Please could you suggest if I want to practice tooth craving at home, how to go about it.Any book i need and what all do i need.

tooth craving? Is that kinda like a sugar craving? 😉

No i mean carving tooth .with dental anatomy .Please help

If you're a dental student, you should already have all the equipment you need...which leads me to believe you're still a pre-dent...which in turn leads me to suggest that you not worry about it 😉 If you want to practice with your hands, take a solid art or jewelrymaking class. Tooth-carving (or waxing) is something they'll teach you in school, and not necessarily something you'll do a lot of after dental school anyway.

i am a dental student i am not good with it so I want to practice at home. Presently i am at home. so i doen't want to waste time.

Why do you need a book?

Just use your typodont and try to wax up teeth to replicate your typodont's tooth shapes.

The first thing I think of when somebody says "craving" is a little chihuahua dog saying "Yo quiero Taco Bell." Don't know why. 😀

yup, I sucked so bad went home one weekend and spent 10 hours and now i could do most teeth in less than an hour.

I used the tools from school and a blow torch at home (but at a very very very low setting to the point where it was barely on)

Does a candle work?

You should be able to get a small alcohol lamp. Thats what they give us at school, if we want to practice at home.

They gave us a Lenek portable lab burner in our tool kit...but I forogt it that weekend.

I think they are like $15 and work identical to a bunson burner, so maybe check it out.

Speaking of dental cravings... I love the smell of the wax we use on the borders of impression trays. It's got such a nice minty smell, and I always just want to take a big honkin bite of it. The other day I actually did try a little piece; it's super sticky and got stuck all over my anteriors leaving them a pale, pretty blue. I had to keep my mouth shut so nobody could see and chewed like 4 pieces of gum over the next 20 minutes until I was confident I had gotten it all off.

Haven't eaten any more, but still I'm tempted. 🙂

Now THAT is funny!!!

what do you think of the smell of acrylic....i just love it

I love the smell of the alginin (sp?) pink impressions. They smell like bubble gum!!

Just wait until you try Polyether for impressions! 😀

Polyether? YOu like that stuff? Man, now there is no better smell than 4 or 5 wax patterns getting burned out and someone turning off the vent.

My favorite smell is the monomer used to replace a tooth in a denture. That actually does smell good!
