I think legit jobs that you were paid for are always fair game to put on your app, even if from high school. There is something valuable about working for your own paycheck. I also think that applies to legit wet lab research. I would include those jobs.

I would target your schools based on your stats. If you intend to participate in medical research during school, then I would reflect on how your experience with your thesis will give you skills that will be relevant for medical research

I’ve definitely been using my stats and the mission statements to create my school list. I did find myself taking schools out with stronger research focuses because I wasn’t sure if my thesis would count, but I’ll probably put those schools back in as some of them really fit what I’m looking for geographically and program wise.

Were you making systematic observations to generate new knowledge? If so, you can call it research. If not, I'd recommend that you do not. You can piss off the wrong people by trying to claim to have done "research" when they don't see what it was (which was scholarship but not "research" in the sense that physicians and life scientists use the term) as legit research. Proceed with caution.
