Wow, so they have changed a bit...In all cases- keep in mind that one of the essays is about 'what makes you unique', and the other is more specifically about what made you choose Pharmacy as a prospective career. If UCSD is following in UCSF's footsteps (which I've been told they are,) the key thing to keep in mind is to *not* repeat yourself in each essay. If you mentioned that hiking up to the top of HalfDome was an achievement, don't mention it again in another essay, since it makes you sound like a broken record. Each of the essays (for UCSF, anyway,) we were told, should be a reflection of an aspect of you that makes you a unique applicant. It's a lot of writing, so it's great to have a few ideas in mind, set it aside, then come back to it. I spent about 3 months total writing my essays and reworking them all...
