It seems hard to get a definitive answer for this question, even from reading previous posts. My University is on quarter terms, not semesters. This year I have taken 17 credit hours per term. This fall, I'd like to take 15 credit hours to allow myself more time for some additional volunteering. I'm planning on being a Chemo-pal at a local children's hospital. In addition I'm a father/husband with 2 kids. Would lowering the amount of credit hours to 15 put me at a disadvantage when I apply to med school? Or is 15 still sufficient to be called a full load? I certainly can do more hours, but I wouldn't be able to fit in the chemo-pal volunteering. Thanks in advance for the advice.

15 credits is a full load at a quarter based college. 15x3x4 = 180 quarter credits needed for graduation (4 years, 3 quarters a year). A lot of the pre-req lectures+lab are 5 quarter credits each so taking gen chem, biology, and physics in the same quarter is 15 credits. I'd call that a full load.
