Does anyone know how their alternate list works? Also, does anyone know the class acceptance status for fall 2006? I've been waiting patiently, hopefully I hear SOMETHING soon!

I was an alternate last year and this year as well, so I guess I should know something about the whole process by now. I'll try to help you out.

Basically, CU decides who they want for their program in the winter and they set them up with interviews. They then choose alternates that they think would make good candidates as well. These alternates are basically "put on the back burner" while their first choice applicants are interviewed. If there are any seats left for the program after interviewing that first group of students, then the alternates get a chance if they are still interested. (I'm not sure if all alternates get invited for an interview or not).

I had asked CU's admissions dept, "Does a student have to decline the program in order for an alternate to have a chance?" They told me no. Just because an applicant interviews, does not mean he/she will be accepted.

I'm not sure of the acceptance status, etc. I just received my acceptance letter yesterday, so hopefully, you will hear something soon!

I hope this answered your questions somewhat. Good luck!!!! 🙂
