Which school, in your opinion, offers the best opportunities in neuroscience training (NS/Neuro/Psych). Creighton's board scores and match lists are on average better, however, I don't know if this makes up for the lack of research opportunities.

If you're interested in neurosurgery, choose OHSU. It has a well-reputated neurosurgery program, while I don't think Creighton has a department at all. Having a home program, let alone one with a well-known chair like the one at OHSU, is very helpful to match into neurosurgery for multiple reasons. Chief among them being having someone to go to bat for you and being able to get neurosurgery pubs under your belt.

You can study hard and do well on the boards coming from anywhere. Nothing magical about Creighton.

Just withdrew from Creighton today in favor of OHSU. Any tips on good research programs to get invovled with in the future? Feel free to PM.

If you are interested in Neurosurgery then OHSU is the way to go. The chairman there is Dr. Burchiel and he is a big name in the field, especially pain + functional.

I believe there is a student interest group for neurosurgery, and I know there are plenty of research opportunities. They have the Campagna Scholarship for neurosurgery research for the summer between 1st and 2nd year. Plus plenty of other basic science research going on. Dr. Neuwelt does a lot of research as well. Email some OHSU 4th years going into neurosurgery or some of the residents on how to get started.

Great, thanks!
