I hate to post something on "What are my chances of getting in?", but I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

I applied to Creighton and was waitlisted; however, I had to decline the waitlist offer since I still need to take Bio 2 and Organic 2. I also want to retake the PCAT this June and possibly August (depending on the scores).

More about me---neonatal nurse (BSN) for 4 years.
Stats:
Overall GPA: 3.08
Math/Science GPA: 3.25
Overall PCAT: 59

Any advice? Is it worth applying for 2008 (this is something I've wanted to pursue for quite some time now)? The distance-learning/web-based program is pretty much my only option since I need to work and for the flexibility.

I think UF has a distance learning option for nurses.

I think Florida's distance education program is for pharmacists with a bachelor's degree, not for nurses. Thanks though. 🙂

I got into Creighton's campus-based program, but they gave me the Fall 2006 stats for the web-based program:

Enrollment: 55 students
Interview cutoff: ~110 applicants
Average GPA: 3.42
Average PCAT Composite: 86%
Average Age: 29
% of Degree holders: 80%
Gender demographics: 75% female, 25% male
Ethnic diversity: 17%
# of states represented: 29

Your GPA isn't that bad as there are bound to be 3.8 and 3.9 students pulling that average up. However, that 59 PCAT is too low IMO so I think you really need to retake that. You need to get your scores up so that you can get an interview. Once you get an interview, that's the point where you can bring up your well-rounded experiences with nursing. Creighton is one of those schools that took for a well-rounded applicant, but you have to get an interview before you can show it. Before then, your stats need a boost for it not to get lost in the shuffle.

Do a search for Creighton in this forum as there was a person who got accepted (I forget who) to Creighton with a low GPA. That person has some good advice too.🙂

Thank you omnione! Very helpful and encouraging! I will try and search for that post you mentioned. 😉

I definitely wasn't pleased with my Oct PCAT, and it definitely made me aware of what my weakness areas are.

I think that Creighton also prefers that you have a minimum of a 60 score in each subscore area, as well as (obviously) the composite. I got in to Creighton's web-based and, although I'm no expert, I'd be happy to try to answer any questions you've got 🙂

I did get in with a 50 chemistry (of course, embarrassed to say), but it is possible. They really like the well-rounded applicant, mature students, and someone who is pursuing pharmacy for the right reasons (ie not money alone), from what I've read.

I was accepted in March and as the previous poster mentioned, I am not an expert either. However, I was talking to a current student while up on my interview and he mentioned that a strong GPA and high PCATs are almost vital for admissions. However, as previous posters have said Creighton also loves maturity and a sincere want to help people regardless of pay. Your stats are not terrible and your experience in health care makes you a strong candidate. If your PCAT was a touch higher you would be a shoe in I think. But what I think means squat... 🙂

Good luck!
