Has anyone that was waitlisted for the Creighton web-based pathway received an invitation for an interview??

I did yesterday. Not sure if I'm going to take it or not

I was wondering if you are waitlisted, must you be interviewed before you will be seriously considered? I am not sure how this works😳.

Pupsren, you were waitlisted, offered an interview, then accepted during the middle of April?

How would my chances differ if I was interviewed then placed on the alternate list to be reevaluated in May?

Does anyone know about how many people are offered a seat after the May reevaluation? All I can find out from adcom is they used the alternated list more than once last year after the May reevals. That could be 2 and up.

Arrg. I just really want to go to pharmacy school and this is the only program that will allow this to happen. Still hanging in there though, to be honest, I am worried that it is not going to happen this year 🙂.

Yes, you need to interview to get in..
They can accept you all the way up to orientation week, which is Aug. 4-9. It all depends on who turns down their offer, I guess. Don't know much about reevaluations.
If you don't get in this year, definitely try again! And apply early! I know of a few people who got in on their 2nd or even 3rd try.

I accepted last friday May 9th 😀.

Has anyone else out there been left on the alternate list without an interview??? I had all of my application stuff in by early December and was waitlisted in late January -without an interview... And I haven't heard anything at all since then. I called admissions once... just to make sure I hadn't missed any communication from them and I've been assured that I'm still being considered and "not to give up hope" because they continue to accept people right up to orientation... But how likely is that really? Does anyone out there know how they'd go about interviewing me without any interview dates remaining?? ANY information would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!

I'm in the same exact state right now, except the fact that I applied for the campus pathway.

Well its nice to know I'm not alone at least! Thanks for responding! Do you know of anyone being interviewed this late in the game??? Are you planning on reapplying?

They said they're going to review our applications again in late May. I'm on the alternate list for two schools, but I might go ahead and try to gather all transcripts and LORs for PharmCAS this summer.

Will you retake the PCAT too?? How did you score the first time? I'm trying to decide if I want to or not... I'd hate to register for the test and then find out I'm accepted for this year...??😕

I'm planning to retake the test in October if I don't get accepted this year. However, I'm still contemplating whether I should start signing up for a course at Kaplan for summer. I don't want to sign up and then realize that I get pulled off from the waitlist from either school. My score was on the low side when I first took it this January.

Good idea.

At this point, interviews and acceptances are rare. They happen every year for most schools but one shouldn't get his/her hopes up too high.

You'll shell out thousands of dollars for pharmacy school tuition and fees. A few hundred more dollars down the drain wouldn't hurt that much if you get accepted. That being said, you could wait until a few days before the regular or late registration deadline for the August PCAT. If you don't have an acceptance by then, then the risk is more bearable and you've given schools more time to accept you. Start your PharmCAS but don't send it in until you realize that you won't get in for 2008.

Hi omnione - Are you a campus or distance Creighton student? Do you know of anyone being interviewed this late in the application process from previous years?? I'm not getting my hopes up - just wondering if it is even a possibility. For now, I'm studying for the PCAT and getting new LORs... etc. Thanks for whatever info you can provide!

I'm a campus student. I was speaking in general when talking about the scarcity of interviews at this point. I do know that acceptances run until a few days before the semester starts. I don't have the numbers of additional interviews after all sessions. I don't know of anyone personally so I don't know if it's possible. I do know that they interview about two applicants per seat for both pathways, so I'd imagine that most of the rejects w/interviews would get first shot.

I suppose that it is possible if their main waitlisters fall through, but like I said, I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

I agree with Omnione. While possible, I would assume very, very rare. I'd assume they'd take an interviewed waitlister over a non-interviewed person. Creighton is huge on the interview and getting to know the 'real' person.

I know of one person in my class who was interviewed, waitlisted, then in late July got the call that she was accepted. Not sure of any others.

"Welcome Week" for P1 distance students is the first week in August, so if you haven't heard anything by then, it's 99.99% a no. Welcome Week is a time for the class to learn all they'll need for the next 4 years and to bond with the class. Missing out on it would set one back quite a bit.

On a side note, one of your classmates went through our orientation a few weeks later for some reason. That must have been odd for him given that he won't see most of us again as well as the PT and OT students who were there.

K - thanks all - I'll just plan on reapplying for next year. Does anyone have any suggestions for making my application stronger? My overall GPA and science GPA were above average for the accepted students in '07 and my PCAT was all above average except for the Chemistry section, so I'm planning on REALLY studying and retaking it in August. I'm also working ~30 hours a week at a hospital pharmacy and I have retail experience as well. Should I try to add research? Or volunteering? Did you all have anything like that to boost your odds? Thanks for whatever you can tell me!
