Hey does anyone know of any schools that require a criminal background check prior to matriculation?

If so, what types of convictions will eliminate you from being able to attend?

Im guessing that if they don't require it in the application, then they don't require it at all. But I could be wrong about this.

Mostly they are looking for drug offenses and theft. But I believe if you have had a felony you are not able to get a pharmacist license. Therefore they would not accept anyone who could not be licensed.

MWU-CPG does background checks.

If you have a felony(even if it is not drug related) you won't be able to find anyplace to do a rotation so basically even if the school allows you to attend you will not get rotation requirements fulfilled.

Wingate does background checks. They send you this scary email about random drug tests and background checks and such. It kind of freaked me out actually, not that I have anything to hide 😉

From what I have seen almost every school makes you complete the Criminal Background Check. They don't want to admit a student who would go to school there and then not be able to do rotations or get their license.

UF does background checks. They also do them before rotations just to make sure you don't have any new offenses.

Colorado requires background checks. I would bet that every school will either do one when you start school or before you start rotations.

Every pharmacy school will require a background check, regardless of whether or not they mentioned it in the application. As others have stated you must have a BG check for rotations.

The only thing that would matter is a felony conviction.

What about if you got in a fight way back in 2000, and plead guilty to simple assault (misdemeanor) early in 2001?

But crystal clean record since...

I work for the school board and those background checks are pretty extensive (criminal, drug, finger prints, etc). I just our hope our fees cover it and that they don't make us pay for all of it out of pocket!
