Is criticizing MDs in your DO interview frowned upon?? (to give an example as to why you connected to the DO philosophy better)

I would definitely think so, especially if you're interviewing with an MD.

Most definitely. You wouldn't want to pigeon-hole yourself as being generally ignorant about medicine, which is how such criticism would undoubtedly appear. It's common knowledge that DO/MD = Physicians Working Together. There's no real reason for anyone to criticize either discipline save for some manifestation of insecurity that typically results in an over-inflated ego. Practice good medicine and be a great physician. The rest will come naturally as the playing fields continue to equalize. It's a great time for medicine. 👍

Are you pre-dental or pre-med??? 😕

generally, generalizations are bad!

There is no such thing as a DO philosophy. Dont bash anyone.

Of course it's bad. In your practice of medicine, just going by the numbers, you are more likely than not going to be working with more MD's than DO's. If you are already admitting a close-minded or critical view of their degree that may not bode well.

I thought the whole DO philosophy is holistic medicine?

No. We practice traditional western medicine including all of the same prescriptions and surgeries. We also learn various OMM techniques, many of which are similar to/the same as techniques used by physical therapists.

You obviously thought wrong...or more accurately, failed to think at all.

In my opinion, you should avoid criticisms of that nature during an interview; save it for a bitch session with a trusted friend, or something, if you must wax that direction. I don't know what you are planning on criticizing about in particular, but generalizing about MDs and/or DOs is a dangerous game. During an interview, it may be injurous to your cause, or worse. Indeed, I feel that it is much better to wax positive in relation to this matter (i.e., what, in your experience, about osteopathic medicine and/or physicians attracted you, etc?). There's no reason to even bring allopathic physicians into the picture, especially in a negative light. The object isn't to pit one designation against the other; the truth is MDs and DOs are colleagues. In my opinion, the degree you earn doesn't necessarily decide the kind of phyisician you'll be; that's all on you, the individual. Thus, rather than opening that can of worms, focus on proving your interest and suitability for osteopathic medicine and for the school in question. That should be your focus, not bashing MDs, or anything along that avenue.

I think you should do it, and use a lot of profanity.

I wouldn't unless you are interviewing right before me...😀

I thought it was the philosophy that all feelings of fear, guilt, and negativity were the result of "Engrams" that can only be removed with years of intensive, special counseling. 😕

Noooo.

You're right, the guy doesn't think; don't waste your time on the "LittleAlex" bugger. He's a troll as evidenced by his previous posts. :bullcrap:
