So, some questions about CS exam.

-Do we take our own white coat, and is it ok if it has our school's logo on it, or are we given one at the center?
-The same with steth/opthalmoscope-do we take our own or do we get one?
-Are we allowed to take notes during the encounter?
-When we counsel the patients, do we give them general advice or are we to address the DDx? what if we are unsure about what they have-is a doctor actually grading us on our medical advice?

Thanks.

How about reading the instructions when you sign up for the exam? That's what I did, and I showed up prepared.

Maybe that's why you didn't fill out your rank list correctly.

How about you go and institutionalize yourself? Do you have nothing better other than stalk people on here? Seriously, get a life. If you don't have anything productive to contribute, then at least be quit. Again, I am reporting you for abuse.

Take your own coat; they'll cover up the logo for you.

Take your own stethoscope. There are ophthalmoscopes and all other equipment you might need in the rooms.
-Are we allowed to take notes during the encounter?
By all means.

The SP is grading you; what you counsel them on should depend on the case.

All these questions are addressed at the USMLE website, or if not there, in First Aid for Step IICS. You should take a look at both. They're probably more reliable than a message board, too.😉

I'm closing the thread because you could not keep it civil. If you feel a post is abusive, please report it but do not respond in kind.

I have answered your questions below so there will be no reason to keep it open anyway.

John Deere Gree is indeed correct that the answers to all these questions come with the instructions you get when you sign up for the exam. There are other useful instructions you will be expected to know, so may I suggest reading them instead of just relying on this post.
